SURF Break – Climate.gov Content Lives On

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”* In other words, step in, contribute, invent, etc. Perhaps that’s what former National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) employees were thinking when they decided to create a new website, www.climate.us, in response to the elimination of NOAA’s website www.climate.gov. According to the new site, the website “is supported in part by more than 2,500 small donations from people who want reliable climate science information to remain accessible.” That and $280,000 of crowdsourced funds allowed the archived site to be relinked and recategorized. The new site contains much of the original information, including expert blogs, maps, and data, as well as the Fifth National Climate Assessment.
