New SURF Technical Initiative – RESTORE Tool for Remediation Impact Assessment

🌱 We’re thrilled to announce that SURF has approved a new Technical Initiative: the RESTORE Tool (Remedial Evaluation and Screening Tool for Optimization and Resource Efficiency).

What we’re building: A new SURF-owned tool for conducting simplified site impact assessments at remediation sites. The tool will help practitioners quantify the full resource, social, and economic impacts of remedial actions, with an initial focus on electricity usage impacts.

Why it matters: Current industry tools need a refresh with updated data and conversion factors. RESTORE will provide a simple, unbiased interface that gives practitioners the most current quantitative methods for impact assessment.

Looking for collaborators: We’re seeking SURF members with experience in:

  • Impact assessment tools
  • Electricity usage calculations
  • Tool development
  • Sustainable remediation practices

Note: Participation is limited to current SURF members. Not a SURF member and want to join? Click here.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an important industry resource that will benefit the entire remediation community.

Interested in joining the team? Send a message to [email protected] if you’d like to be involved in the kickoff meeting which will be held in mid to late August.
