SURF Committees and Initiatives

SURF members are engaged through seven Committees:

  1. Technical Initiatives
  2. Communications
  3. Meetings and Programs
  4. Education and Outreach
  5. Membership
  6. Nominations
  7. Finance

The Technical Initiatives Committee oversees SURF's technical projects and work products.  SURF has published several guidance documents, developed by the Framework, Metrics, and Life Cycle Assessment technical initiatives.  Recent and new initiatives include examining more sustainable practices for water use and reuse, working towards better integration of sustainable remediation and sustainable redevelopment, compiling sustainable remediation case studies, assessing the social aspects of sustainable remediation, and exploring the viability of a sustainable remediation site rating and professional certification system.

In addition, the Education and Outreach Committee encompasses two focused outreach initiatives -- Academic Outreach and Government Outreach -- and provides mentoring and support to SURF's Student Chapters.
