Group Dinner:
SURF's group dinners are a fun and ongoing tradition.  The meeting venue is located in Greek Town, so it is likely we will walk to a Greek restaurant after the first day of the meeting. 

Additional information about the group dinner will be posted as it becomes available.

 

Transportation Options:
The venue area is serviced by Chicago Midway and O’Hare airports.  Both airports have train and taxi service to/from the Loop.  O’Hare is northwest of the Loop. Midway is southwest of the Loop.

The CTA Blue Line goes from O’Hare to the Loop and back.  The Jackson Blue station is the closest to the meeting site.

The CTA Orange Line goes from Midway airport to the Loop and back. The LaSalle Van Buren station is the closest to the meeting site.

Hotel Recommendations:
Hotel Durant
Hotel Durant is located adjacent to the UC Berkeley campus and centrally located relative to our meeting location and Tuesday night dinner (approximately a 10 minute walk to each location). The closest public transit (BART) to local airports and San Francisco is approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel.

Hotel Shattuck
Hotel Shattuck is located in downtown Berkley adjacent to BART and many restaurants/shops. The meeting location and Tuesday Dinner are approximately 1.5 miles and 1 mile (respectively) from the Hotel Shattuck.

Group Dinner:
SURF's group dinners are a fun and ongoing tradition.  Dinner is $45 per person and reservations are made by selecting the 'Dinner' box on the meeting registration page and paying the appropriate fee.

Tuesday nights’ group dinner will be held at Le Bateau Ivre, an Alameda County Certified Green Business. This rustic, quaint restaurant is equidistance between BART and the meeting location and easily accessible via AC Transit.  A banquet style dinner will be served in a converted French cottage built in 1898.

Transportation Options:
The closest major airports are Oakland International Airport and San Francisco International Airport.

Both airports are served by the Bay Area Rapid Transit system (BART).

SURF strongly encourages public transportation to the meeting venue. Taxi cabs and AC Transit lines are readily available at the Downtown Berkeley BART station.

SURF 20 - Hotels, Group Dinner, Directions, and Transportation Options

Parking:
Daily permits are available for all visitors, as well as CSU staff, faculty, and students for $6.00 each.

There are several lots available near the meeting venue.

Hotel Recommendations:

Hilton Fort Collins
SURF has arranged for discounted lodging at the Hilton Fort Collins, which is about a 10-minute walk from the meeting venue.  The lodging package is available until June 21 and is valid from arrival on Sunday, July 21 to departure on Friday, July 27.  The package includes the Hilton Signature Buffet Breakfast.  Rates start at $129 (plus taxes) for a single room

Hilton has provided a website for SURF attendees to reserve their rooms.  You can also make room reservations by phone at 970-482-2626 (refer to the Sustainable Remediation Forum).

Transportation Options:

Denver International Airport is the closest major airport.

You can either use a rental car or a shuttle service like SuperShuttle (www.supershuttle.com) to reach Ft. Collins in about an hour.  Green Ride operates on an hourly schedule between Fort Collins and Denver International Airport, and are offering SURF meeting attendees a discount of $5 on each reservation made with their service.  You can book reservations at the discounted rate by making reservations via the SURF Conference portal, or by calling 888-472-6656.  Please be sure to mention that you are with the “SURF Conference” to ensure you get the discount (it is best to do this early in the reservation or while confirming email and credit card information).  You may also book reservations through the main Green Ride website.  Enter SURF as the profile ID at the bottom of the page.  See the main website for a full schedule and additional information.

Parking:

The nearest parking is available at Hopkins Parking Structure.  Parking permits can be bought at the pay stations throughout Hopkins. The permits cost $1 per 45 minutes or $8 per day.

Walking directions from Hopkins Parking Structure to Atkinson Hall:
Walk down Voigt Drive, following signs for the Sustainability Symposium.
Atkinson Hall is just past Engineer Lane.
Walk under the building to the front, where the Auditorium is located.

SURF has secured a special rate of $129 per night ($159 per night for an ocean view and $179 per night for beach front). The rate applies two days before and after the conference. Group Dinner:

SURF's group dinners are a fun and ongoing tradition.  The group dinner for SURF 19 will be at Piatti, 2182 Avenida de la Playa, La Jolla, California, on Wednesday, February 1. We'll meet at the restaurant at 6:00 pm. The hotel is located less than 10 minutes walk (approximately 0.4 miles) from the La Jolla Shores Hotel.  Dinner is $45 per person and reservations are made by selecting the 'Dinner' box on the meeting registration page.
